An anonymous fan of VHS tapes has created a series which sees popular modern television shows and films turned into realistic VHS releases. According to an interview with the anonymous person, who goes by the name Stan, the idea came from watching Michel Gondry’sfilm Be Kind Rewind, in which an employee of a video store and his best friend accidentally erased all the tapes they rent. To replace them, they decide to make their own remakes of films.
“This film reminded me why I liked the movies: the traditional aspect, the sound of the band that rewinds, in short the creation in the rough,” said Stan. “In my job, I have to brag everyday about new products with high tech aesthetically perfect sound quality and an increasingly high definition image […] I wanted to return to the fundamentals of the art: great stories, action and dreams for 120 or 240 minutes.” Take a look at the series below.
